In a world where a corrupt government is not unlikely, there is a website that shed’s light on the hidden truths of a government. WikiLeaks mission statement is “WikiLeaks is a non-profit media organization dedicated to bringing important news and information to the public. We publish material of ethical, political and historical significance while keeping the identity of our sources anynonomous, thus providing a universal way for the revealing of suppressed and censored injustices.”

I believe that WikiLeaks is a good thing. Just like reading a newspaper, you cant believe everything you read. It is tough to give WikiLeaks 100 percent validation on their posts to their website. I do believe though that this website helps shed light on the injusticies many governments take part in. On a day to day basis governments lie, steal and sometimes kill their own people. This website has become nationally reknown with its stories about what secrets a government is holding from its people.

Of course there are somethings a government must keep a secret, but they keep way too many. Our government especially is suppossed to work with the people of this nation. The United States has suspectedly the most secretive government in the world. Wouldn’t you like to know some of their secrets? Not secrets about war or past historical facts, but what they are currently doing to the people. Some nations may be testing drugs on soldiers, like the U.S. had done in the mid 1900s. Well this website tries to find out information like that from sources to post on their site for the world to see. Although the founder of WikiLeaks probebly lives a very dangerous life as many governments do not support this website and dont like the founder for creating this, he created a masterpeice of knowing the dark secrets of one’s government. WikiLeaks was constantly being taken up and down from the internet, probebly because of government threats. I am sure the government had tried to shut this website down as it is telling government secrets and injustices. I believe this website serves the world, not just the people of that particular nation, to open their eyes and see what governments can possibly be doing to people.

I think wikileaks is a good way to open up the eyes of the people. It is true what you say, you cant believe everything you read, however if the things that are posted there are not true why would the government want to bring down the website? I believe it is true that the United States hides a lot of secrets that they don’t want to reveal and for a website like this to be put up it is a threat to them. They always seem to tell us what has happened in the past but they cant tell us what is happening in the present.
